Appointment solidifies management team to drive the launch of Vietnam’s first private airline
Hanoi,
June 16th 2008 – VIETJETAIR’s Board of Management officially announces
the appointment of Mr. Lucky Cheong as its Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Cheong will direct and oversee strategic financial planning for the
airline

| Mr. Cheong will work alongside recently-appointed
CEO, Mr. Brian Presbury, to launch the first private airline in
Vietnam. “Mr. Cheong has extensive experience working in the financial
sector, as well as in the aviation industry. He previously worked for
one of the world’s most prestigious carriers, Singapore Airlines. His
invaluable experience will be a great asset to the VIETJETAIR team to
successfully launch its inaugural flight this year.”
Prior to VIETJETAIR, Mr. Cheong worked with
Singapore Technologies Engineering where he implemented growth
strategies, managed acquisitions and developed joint ventures. | In India, Mr. Cheong started one of India’s first
LCCs, GoAir. He was its Director of Finance and Technical. As Director
of Finance, he was responsible for the purchase and financing of new
aircraft; and the raising of equity capital. His other duties included
the the outsourcing of the airline’s various services to create a low
cost structure.
During his tenure with the SIA Group, he
held various management and administrative positions. He helped IPO
its engineering arm, corporatised its cargo division, and introduced
the financial performance management system, EVA. Mr. Cheong
holds a MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan
School of Management, USA; and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from
the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is a fully qualified
aircraft maintenance engineer with several licenses from the Civil
Aviation Authority of Singapore.
To meet the challenges ahead,
VIETJETAIR will continue to recruit highly qualified and exceptional
persons with extensive management experience in the aviation sector.

airline in Vietnam that has been granted operating license in 2007. The
airline will operate air passenger and cargo transport, and other air
logistics services.
With the register capital of VND600
billion (US$37.5 million), VietJetAir is a 100% Vietnamese company with
founding shareholders include T&C Group, Sovico Group and Housing
Development Bank (HD Bank).
Currently, VIETJETAIR focuses on
preparations for the first business flight planned in December 2008. In
the first year of operation, VIETJETAIR will focus on domestic routes
among Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Other domestic and
international destinations will be opened later.
